RealRoute is an independent travel publication and the data controller for the information described here. This policy explains what information we collect, why, and what we do with it. If anything here is unclear, write to contact@realroute.me.

What we collect

We use Plausible Analytics, a privacy-friendly service that does not set cookies, does not track you across sites, and does not collect personal data. Plausible aggregates anonymous page-view counts, referrers, device types, and country-level location. No individual visitor is identifiable from this data.

If you email us, we retain your message and address long enough to reply and for reasonable follow-up. We do not share correspondence with third parties.

Legal basis (GDPR)

Where the GDPR applies, our legal basis is legitimate interest for privacy-friendly, aggregate analytics that contain no personal data, and consent for any advertising cookies set by our partners. You can withdraw consent at any time through your browser settings or the opt-out tools below.

Advertising

RealRoute serves display advertising through Google Ad Manager and programmatic partners. Ads may use cookies or similar technologies to measure performance and select creatives. You can control personalized advertising through your browser settings or by visiting YourAdChoices (US) / Your Online Choices (EU).

Cookies

RealRoute does not set first-party tracking cookies. Third-party ad partners may set their own cookies when their creatives render. You can clear or block cookies at any time in your browser.

Your rights and how to use them

Depending on where you live, you have rights over your data, including under the EU/UK GDPR and the California CCPA. You can request access to any correspondence we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, object to or restrict its use, and (under the CCPA) opt out of any sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell your personal information.

To exercise any of these, email contact@realroute.me and we will respond within the timeframe your local law requires. To opt out of personalized advertising, use your browser's cookie controls or the industry tools at YourAdChoices (US) and Your Online Choices (EU).

How long we keep data

Plausible analytics is aggregate and retains no personal data about you. If you email us, we keep your message and address only as long as needed to reply and for reasonable follow-up, and delete it on request. Cookies set by advertising partners expire according to their own retention periods, which you control through your browser.

Children's privacy

RealRoute is a general-audience travel publication and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has provided us information, email contact@realroute.me and we will delete it.

Changes

We may update this policy as services or regulations change. Material changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date above.
